When you work as a freelancer, then, freelance projects represent the elements that earn you a living. People who turn freelancing into real business have lots of reasons to be content with their situation. However, at an objective investigation, one can discover some downsides to freelancing as well. You can choose the projects and feel rewarded with the ones you accept as interesting and doable. Last but not least, freelance projects also bring flexibility.

Freelance work is no longer confined to an office. You can carry your laptop and work from wherever you like, you can stay at home or simply organize a personal office to minimize distractions. Depending on the nature of the freelance projects, you should be able to work from everywhere more or less. But let us get a look at the dark aspects of freelancing.

Lack of job security is the first downside people find to freelance projects. The necessity to constantly hunt for work, can easily turn into a major impediment. Then, contract negotiations, bookkeeping, taxes, health insurance coverage and everything else that falls into the freelancer’s responsibility could be discouraging.

Finally, days off or vacations are not so good when you think that every day you waste can discontinue the money flow. The problem here is in the huge responsibility because the buck stops with you if you take a break. Choose between earning your bread and having fun, that’s definitely a difficult choice! Competition is higher than aver, there is not always enough work and things could alter for the worst! Who’s talking about a vacation?
